Privacy at TCG Scouter
Last updated 24 August 2026. TCG Scouter is a local-first collection app without its own user account, advertising or behavioural tracking.
Data kept on your device
Your collection, folders, owned-copy details, purchase notes, settings, selected imports, price history and image cache remain on your device. An export leaves the device only when you choose to share it. Local storage is not a backup, so keep an export if you need a copy outside the app.
Catalogue, images and prices
The app loads its licensed card catalogue and card images through approved product sources and downloads public Cardmarket catalogue and daily price-guide files. Those providers receive ordinary technical connection data such as your IP address. TCG Scouter does not send your collection, advertising identifier or account details with those requests.
Camera and optional scanner contributions
Card detection and recognition run on your device. Scanner-photo sharing is off by default and requires separate, explicit consent. When enabled, a photo deliberately taken with the scanner shutter may be uploaded even when no card is found or processing fails; it can include cards, sleeves, a table, holders or a hand. Live camera frames, video and audio are never uploaded. Metadata is removed and private EU storage retains contributions for no more than 90 days. You can stop sharing and request deletion from the app.
Exact price alerts
When you enable an alert, the private service receives a random installation identifier, an Apple Push Notification token and the selected card, language, minimum condition, price target and direction. These details are used to check and deliver the alert, not for advertising or cross-app tracking, and are removed when the installation or alert is deleted.
Optional card-mapping proposals
Only when you choose to submit a card-to-product mapping for review does the private service receive limited card and product identifiers, the product link, app build and random deletion credential. Your collection and card image are not included. Proposals are manually reviewed and never publish automatically.
Subscriptions
Apple processes purchases and subscriptions. TCG Scouter receives only the signed technical transaction and entitlement information required to apply Free, Plus or Pro alert limits. It does not receive your full payment-card or Apple Account details.
Website beta signup
The beta form stores your email address, explicit consent and any optional testing preferences you provide. A daily rotating, non-reversible connection code may be kept for up to 48 hours to limit abuse. Your signup is deleted no later than 90 days after the external beta ends, and the personal withdrawal link shown after signup lets you delete it sooner.
Your choices
You can manage camera access in iOS, stop or delete scanner contributions, disable price alerts, clear the image cache without deleting your collection, export your local data and remove a website beta signup with its personal withdrawal link.
